November 22 through December 31 Colonial Williamsburg celebrates the holiday season throughout its Historic Area as well as in their hotels, taverns, museums and shops. Enjoy a meal surrounded by those you love, stroll through our shops, enjoy hot cider and hand-crafted gingerbread houses in our hotels, or attend classic holiday events. Festive decorations and timeless charm set the stage for an unforgettable experience.

A candle lights each window and more than five miles of pine roping adorn the streets of the Historic Area. With a custom made wreath on each door, bring along a cup of hot apple cider and enjoy one of the daily Christmas Decorations Walking Tours. Here you'll have an up-close guided tour of buildings in their holiday splendor.
Grand Illumination - Sunday December 8
In the 18th century, illuminations were sometimes held to commemorate the birth of the reigning sovereign. Today Colonial Williamsburg celebrates this annual event the first Sunday of December with musical performances on multiple stages and fireworks from three locations.
Daily children's activities are hosted throughout the season. Examples include a guided Children's Orientation Walk that offers first hand view of the 18th Century holiday experience from a child's perspective. In addition Holiday Tea is offered at the Williamsburg Inn and Breakfast with Santa Claus is offered at the Williamsburg Lodge on special dates during the holiday season. Shows and Programs
The holiday season is packed with holiday shows and special events each and every day. Come together to enjoy the holiday magic of the Revolutionary City. Your admission ticket allows you access to the theatrical performances, festive music, guided tours of 18th-century buildings, and personal interactions that occur daily Historic Area. In the Kimball Theatre you will find seasonal productions including "Christmas Dreams" and "Christmas Memories" both of which are family oriented productions that awaken the Christmas spirit in us all.
Dining in one of the Colonial Williamsburg Taverns is sure to be one of the highlights of your visit! The crackle of a bonfire welcomes you most evenings outside of each Tavern. Inside enjoy traditional 18th Century fare while friends from the past stroll past your table and bring you into conversations of the day before playing a little music. The peanut soup and peppermint ice cream and seasonal favorites!
Reservations are suggested for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day meals.
